Interior Design Reviews

By attending the presentations of the Interior Design students, I feel like it gave me a good idea of what to expect in the next year and I'm very glad that I went. The first presentation I watched was Taylor's and I was very impressed. I thought that she presented her project very well and I could tell that she knew what aesthetic she was after very well and I think that she did a remarkable job of capturing her artist's style in the design. I found it very hard to critique her on anything negative. The next presentation I watched was Lia's. It was interesting to go from Taylor's project to hers because they were so different in the style that they were done in. Lia's design was very light and fun and whimsical whereas Taylor's was very clean and symmetrical and used much darker colors. What I liked about Lia's is that I think she really considered her artist's aesthetic and I think she captured it in a very fun way. I loved how she incorporated the large glass sculptures and I think she also really took into consideration her artist's needs when designing her space. Finally, I watched Brecken's presentation. Her space was very well done as well and I especially liked how she incorporated her textile pattern into the design of the seating and the walls in the gallery. I thought that was really interesting and very cleverly done. The only negative critique that I had of her presentation was that I didn't see her inspiration piece as clearly as I did in the other two presentations. After attending these presentations I was very impressed with the work of the students but it also made me very nervous for next year because a lot of what they did looked to be very challenging and there was a lot of things that I definitely did not have very much, if any, experience with. I talked to a couple of them about it and they said that they felt the same way when they saw the presentations last year and they assured me that although it is challenging, it is very doable and you learn all of it gradually so it's not all thrown at you at once. This was encouraging to me and I am actually very excited to have the opportunity to do the project next year.
