When we took the class field trip to Seattle in September I was expecting it to be a fun trip but it turned out to be much more then that. I enjoyed every single minute of the trip. Going to all the different showrooms and having the opportunity to shadow a designer were probably the most valuable things that I think we did this semester because it made me realize just how excited I really am to become an interior designer. My favorite part of the trip was visiting the Knoll showroom. I enjoyed this the most because I loved getting the opportunity to get to view design from a commercial aspect rather then from the home point of view. Visiting Knoll made me realize that doing commercial design is something that I might actually be very interested in. I also loved getting the opportunity to get to shadow the designer. Having that opportunity to see how things are firsthand is so valuable and it gave me a more realistic view to what the design industry is actually like. Finally, I loved having the opportunity to get to do the sketch crawl at the sculpture garden in Seattle. At first I wasn't too excited about doing this but I ended up really enjoying the experience and actually ended up with some sketches that I am very proud of.
